When people hear”spread” they think of the death game. The truth is that the spread running game can be lethal. A couple of years ago I coached in a college that made a run to the Texas high school state championship match. We put the spread in not because we believed we would predominate from the passing game but since we knew the team would be a great running group.
I wonder just how many truly understand all aspects of the crime. When done correctly it may be like a full court run4 and it will slowly wear another team down. The running game is an integral part of becoming a complete crime.

There are three basic schemes for the offense line to find out within zone, outdoor zone, and also the counter trey. On some level this might appear simple. Unfortunately all three theories are tremendously distinct and often offense lines will fight to be good whatsoever.
The running back usually is set from playside. So by way of example if a team is running”2-Base” then the back will be aligned to the quarterback’s left and will crossover and attack the 2 hole and is always trying to find a cutback lane. The back should be thinking bend or bang and must read on the run. Often the hole will develop backside and consequently no participant should think that they may take a playoff. Many times a rear may end up backside and if the inside receiver isn’t performing his job his man will make a touchdown saving tackle!
The basis of the spread’s running game is that the zone read. Since the rear crosses across the quarterback’s eyes have been on the bottom end. If the end closes the quarterback will pull the ball and run out the back door. In case the end remains disciplined or slow plays then it is an automatic supply. In this article I will focus on the duties of the quarterback and runners and I will talk about line play in a later article.
Again repetition is critical. Many quarterbacks will guess. They have to read on the conduct and react to what the defense is giving the offense. 23 foundation is the foundation running play for its spread offense. The quarterback counter trey works off of base and should be learned with 23 base.

Quarterback counter trey will look like 23 foundation but there’s no read. The quarterback does not need to ride the ball to rear, just let him cross. Backside guard and handle will pull. The shield will kick the playside end along with the handle will seal on the linebacker. Playside linemen will down block. Allow me to say here that thoughts upward”4” techniques are difficult to counter because it is hard to execute a down block.

One of the most common mistakes by the quarterback is going to be for him to try and run wide. This drama is tight and will be from backside B difference to play B gap. I promise this drama will not function if the QB isn’t disciplined. He has to trust his offense line and be patient. If 23 foundation have powerful the QB counter will succeed also.
Today 45 counter can be run by the back as well. Often as soon as the backside defensive end sees backside linemen pulling he will shut along with the QB is going to get an opportunity to pull the ball. If a team would like to be prosperous in the disperse running game they need to become efficient at the counter. It is a miss route drama which keeps the buttocks honest.

Often within linebackers will cross vital. Tendencies for many spread teams demonstrate that a majority of time in the event the back is off the running play is coming to you. One method to keep them fair is to combine the running back’s alignment. Align the rear playside on counter some. But if your team runs counter well this will hurt them keying crossover tendencies.
The third running scheme is outside zone. Outside zone keeps defensive ends fair. And just as inside counter and zone work collectively so can counter and outside zone. Some teams won’t widen the end but will utilize an outside linebacker to split the difference between an inside receiver and the tackle. (This is where the bubble is significant ).

Having success running outside zone may lead to defensive ends to widen making them prime targets to be kicked by pulling guards when running counter. The most difficult type of outdoor zone play along with the toughest to time is the jet sweep.
The QB will start the inside receiver in motion and before he arrives at the QB ball is going to probably be snapped and handed to him running full rate. After this play is, it opens up many other possibilities in the racing game and passing game. run 4 game will reduce back and extend playside. It’s easy for offensive line coaches to over coach this. Teach your linemen to work into the playside arm pit and keep participated! It is a quick play and penetration is about the only thing that can result in issues. Playside receivers play a massive role in the achievement of the play.
